After 12 years, here’s what I’ve settled on. It’s simple. That’s the point.

Shane’s Daily System

Foundation (every day): 8 hours sleep, 20 minutes meditation, 30 minutes exercise, clean eating.

Modafinil (3-4 days/week): 100mg Modalert or Artvigil 150mg taken at 7am with water and food. Never after noon.

Cycling: 4 days on, 3 days off. Take weekends off. No tolerance issues in 12+ years using this pattern.

Optional stack: L-Theanine (200mg) to smooth out the edge. Creatine daily regardless.

I don’t maintain a strict daily nootropic routine beyond creatine. The rest depends on the tasks ahead. Some weeks I take modafinil five days running because the work demands it. Other weeks, twice.

That’s the part most people get backwards. They want the pill to fix everything. It can’t. It amplifies what’s already there. If your sleep is rubbish and your diet’s a mess, modafinil will amplify that too — and you’ll feel worse, not better.
